Hushpuppi In Soup; What We Know About His Arrest

A video documentary titled “Fox hunt” detailing the tracking of  Raymond Abass, also known as Hushpuppi and his co-scammers was released by Dubai Media Office on Twitter on Thursday, June 25, 2020. Just like a Hollywood blockbuster, the video became an instant internet sensation with a lot of shares.

After four months of digging, which included hours of monitoring the hushpuppi and his crew’s social media accounts, the team got every information required to nail the scammers.

The police tracked every detail and moves of Hushpuppi. 6 raids were conducted at different locations simultaneously to nab the gangs in the Dubai residences.

According to the video, Hushpuppi creates fake pages of websites and redirects payments of victims to their own accounts. The video also reveals that they hack corporate emails and divert financial transactions to their personal accounts.

Numbers

1. Hushpuppi and his team amassed about 1.6 billion dirhams (about N169 billion.) from their criminal activities

2. Hushpuppi and his crew defrauded one million, nine hundred and twenty-six thousand, four hundred (1,926, 400) people

3. Hushpuppi and his team are in possession of 13 luxury cars worth 25 million dirhams (N2. 640 billion)

4. During the operation that led to their arrest, the police recovered items worth more than 150 million dirhams ( N15.845 billion), which included 21 personal computers, 5 hard drives, 47 smartphones, and 15 flash drives.
